Kimberly Beatty was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Economic Advisory Council on Jan. 1, 2022. She is the eighth chancellor of Metropolitan Community College (MCC) and its first African American leader. She joined MCC after having been a vice chancellor and chief academic officer at Houston Community College.
Ms. Beatty is a member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and its Executive Women’s Leadership Council; the Kansas City Area Development Council; the Full Employment Council Board; and the Rotary Club of Kansas City. In 2019, U.S. Reps. Emanuel Cleaver II and William Lacy Clay Jr. honored Ms. Beatty for her leadership and service to the community by inducting her into their Missouri Walk of Fame. The same year, she was inducted into the Black Achievers Society of Greater Kansas City.
A three-time graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore, Ms. Beatty received a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English, and an Ed.D. in higher education, with a specialization in community college leadership.
