Senior payments specialists Terri Bradford and Julian Alcazar made an appearance on NPR’s Planet Money podcast earlier this month. The episode, which discusses Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services, is a follow-up to a discussion Bradford and Alcazar had on the podcast in 2022 when BNPL services were still relatively new and gaining popularity.
“The podcast was a reflection on the impact of BNPL now that it’s been a payment option for a few years,” Bradford said. “It was an opportunity to revisit what Julian and I had shared during a prior podcast in 2022 about anticipated potential benefits of BNPL, but perhaps more importantly its potential challenges to consumers’ financial wellbeing.”
Media appearances like this give the Bank a platform to share research findings with a broader audience.
“The interest from NPR is an indication that the Bank’s research and analysis serve to enhance understanding of changes in the financial services landscape, and it also deepens our credibility as a resource,” Bradford said.
On a personal level, Terri and Julian say that being invited to speak on Planet Money is something they’re proud of.
“As an NPR listener and a fan of Planet Money, having the opportunity to participate on the podcast and share our work has been a career highlight,” Bradford said.
