The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City announced that it has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s External Link2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. This was the first year the Bank participated in the assessment.

“Our participation in this year’s CEI survey is another example of our commitment to workplace inclusion and a strong culture at the Kansas City Fed,” said Tammy Edwards, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Inclusion Division and Director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion. “Fostering an engaged and inclusive work environment is the highest priority for the Kansas City Fed.”

The results of this year’s CEI showcase how 1,059 U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ-friendly workplace policies in the U.S., and helping advance LGBTQ inclusion in workplaces.

The CEI rates companies and top law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories:

  • Non-discrimination policies
  • Employment benefits
  • Demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBTQ diversity and inclusion
  • Public commitment to LGBTQ equality
  • Responsible citizenship
