The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has announced that Jeremy Hegle has been appointed to assistant vice president and community affairs officer (CAO), effective April 16.

In this role, Hegle will lead the Tenth District’s External LinkCommunity Development and Engagement department, with responsibility for leading and executing the Bank’s districtwide community and economic development initiatives, which address challenging issues affecting lower-income individuals, underserved communities and small businesses’ ability to access credit.

He also will represent the Kansas City Fed on the Federal Reserve System’s CAO subcommittee and will manage the Bank’s External LinkCommunity Development Advisory Council.

Hegle joined the Bank in 2015 as a senior community development advisor. Later he was promoted to lead community development advisor, where he directed the Bank’s digital equity efforts across the Tenth District and System.

In 2019, Hegle co-authored, “External LinkDisconnected: Seven Lessons on Fixing the Digital Divide,” a report that focused on broadband access, economic impact and solutions for communities to narrow the digital divide. He also led the creation of the System Digital Equity Working Group, to advance digital inclusion efforts across the Federal Reserve System.

Prior to the Bank, Hegle served in the Army National Guard and worked 12 years for a community development organization focused on entrepreneurship assistance. He holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Hegle has been an active member of the Kansas City community, involved in a variety of national, local civic and nonprofit organizations, such as Local Initiatives Support Corporation (Financial Opportunity Centers) and Mid-America Regional Council (KC Rising). He is a 2014 graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions program and was named a Kansas City Business Journal’s NextGen Leader. He is also a board member of Digitunity, a nonprofit to eliminate the technology gap through device ownership.

As the regional headquarters of the nation’s central bank, the Kansas City Fed and its branch offices in Denver, Oklahoma City and Omaha serve the seven states of the Tenth District: Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, northern New Mexico and western Missouri.
