Michael S. Dunlap was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Economic Advisory Council in 2018. He is executive chairman of the board and executive committee chair of Nelnet, a provider of educational services in loan servicing, payment processing, education planning and asset management. Nelnet employs more than 2,250 and is based in Lincoln, Neb.
Dunlap helped establish the company that would become Nelnet in 1996. He was previously chairman and CEO of the company from its inception. He serves on the boards of many other organizations, including Union Bank & Trust, Union College, Hudl, Capital Casualty Co., the University of Nebraska College of Law and the Jeffery S. Raikes School.
He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and holds an undergraduate degree and a juris doctor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
