John Bourne was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Omaha Branch Board of Directors in 2014 and was branch chair from 2016-2017.

Mr. Bourne served as an international representative for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) from 2006 until his retirement in 2017. IBEW represents approximately 750,000 active and retired members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada.  Mr. Bourne began his electrical career in 1976 with OK Electric Inc., working as an apprentice, journeyman, and foreman electrician. From 1990 to 2006, he worked for the IBEW Local #22, based in Omaha, Neb. as a business manager and financial secretary.

Mr. Bourne also has served on the State of Nebraska Worker Training Board since 2000, as well as the Metro Community College Executive Council for the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology.

Mr. Bourne has completed the electrical apprentice program from the Omaha Joint Apprenticeship Committee and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the National Labor College.
