Biography

Paul J. Thompson joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Board of Directors in 2014. He is the Chairman, President and CEO of Country Club Bank, a $1.3 billion commercial bank with 19 locations in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Its Capital Markets Group is well-known throughout the country specializing in providing fixed-income securities to financial institutions and other customers in more than 35 states. The bank’s wholly owned subsidiary, Asset Management Group (AMG), also advises financial institutions across the country on asset/liability management, portfolio risk management practices, income planning and budgeting and tax minimization strategies. Additionally, Country Club Bank operates the $2 billion Country Club Trust Company, Tower Wealth Managers, and Country Club Financial Services Inc. (the bank’s investment, brokerage and insurance subsidiary). Mr. Thompson also serves as Chairman of the Board for the affiliated Platte Valley Bank of Missouri, a $490 million bank that operates in the northern Kansas City metropolitan area.

Mr. Thompson earned his finance degree from Creighton University, obtained an MBA from Rockhurst University and is a graduate and current Trustee of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking. A licensed CPA (Missouri), he has served in various capacities and on numerous committees for the Missouri Bankers Association including having served as its 2008-2009 Chairman.

Mr. Thompson has also been an active member of the American Bankers Association (ABA), having served on the ABA Accounting Committee, the ABA Community Bankers Council, the ABA Membership Committee and the ABA Government Relations Council Administrative Committee.

Mr. Thompson and his wife Mary, parents to five children, also contribute their time and energies to a number of philanthropic and civic organizations in the greater Kansas City area.
