Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City President Esther George has announced that Teesha Miller will join the Bank April 20 as assistant vice president and community affairs officer (CAO).
Miller will lead the Tenth District community development team. This team executes community and economic development initiatives that address issues facing underserved communities and small businesses. Miller will report to Tammy Edwards, senior vice president of the Community Engagement and Inclusion Division and director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion.
Asked what she was most looking forward to about her new position, Miller said, “The Kansas City Fed is leading the charge on critical economic issues, giving hope to communities that appear to be largely ignored. I look forward to doing everything I can to build on that momentum as we strive to create a prosperous, equitable future for all.”
Miller most recently was executive director of Youth Ambassadors Inc., a Kansas City workforce and life skills development nonprofit that prepares underserved youth and young adults for careers and life. Before that, Miller had leadership positions in both and public and private sectors, including as director of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program for Jackson County, Missouri, and leading departments at Children’s Mercy Hospital and St. Luke’s Health System.
Miller is a member of the community advisory board at the Cleaver YMCA, project director for Move More, Get More, a National Institutes of Health clinical research trial, and a member of the Kansas City Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Miller also is a faculty member with the Vermont Oxford Network, an interdisciplinary health-care nonprofit that creates curricula, directs clinical trials and utilizes data to drive desired outcomes for marginalized individuals.
Miller has an undergraduate degree in management and master's degrees in business administration and health care administration from Park University.
