Online exclusive | The award was in recognition for the Bank’s commitment to women in science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM) fields.


The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City was recognized Sept. 21, 2017, with the Corporate Hero award at the fourth Annual STEMMY Awards luncheon, sponsored by the Central Exchange in Kansas City, Mo.

The award was in recognition for the Bank’s commitment to women in science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM) fields and for actively engaging in community STEMM initiatives. Senior Vice Presidents Donna Ward, Karen Pennell and Dawn Morhaus, along with Deputy Director of Diversity and Inclusion Andrea Hendricks and technology manager Marge Sendze, received the award on behalf of the Bank.

Hosted by Central Exchange WiSTEMM (Women in STEMM), the event brought together hundreds of leaders and professionals in the Kansas City region to celebrate seven industry leaders and professionals who were nominated and chosen by their peers.

The organizations and individuals were awarded in the following area:

  • Rising Trendsetter
  • Enterprising Innovator
  • WiSTEMM Educator
  • WiSTEMM student Achiever
  • The Corporate Hero

"Providing opportunities for women in technology is a critical focus at the Bank and we believe strongly that advancing STEM and diversity efforts requires collaboration among industry, educators, policy makers and families," said Hendricks. "We are committed to partnering with Central Exchange and a similar organization to develop programs that educate and inspire tomorrow's female in the technology industry engineers."
