Traveling Trunks
Bring the Federal Reserve to your school. With our traveling trunks, students can learn about the nation’s central bank without ever leaving their classrooms.

The Kansas City Fed's traveling trunks feature hands-on activities and lessons to teach concepts related to the Fed, money, personal finance and the economy.
Fed Detective Trunk (grades 3-8)
Students can uncover the mysteries of money, banking and the Federal Reserve with the Fed Detective Trunk. (Some materials can be adapted for older students.)
Economic Exploration Trunk (grades 9-12)
With the Economic Exploration Trunk, students learn about economics and personal finance, and the importance of both in their everyday lives. The trunk includes extension activities in math, reading and social studies.
Reserve a traveling trunk
Traveling Trunk reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. To reserve a Traveling Trunk, complete our online reservation form.
Reservation policies
Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. The trunk will be reserved in your name as a representative of your school or organization for a two week time period.
The trunk should be picked up and returned by the requesting school or organization if it is within a 25-mile radius of the Fed’s offices in Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma City or Omaha. The trunk will be shipped outside a 25-mile radius if within the Tenth District (Kansas, northwest Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, northern New Mexico) upon request. (We pay for the shipping, which takes one to five days.)
