WHAT IS TEACH CHILDREN TO SAVE DAY?
Teach Children to Save Day is a national initiative established in 1997 by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Education Fund as a means for the banking industry to show it's support for teaching children money management skills and the value of saving money.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Center for Economic Education will work together to match your classroom with a local volunteer who will teach a 45-minute lesson on the subject of savings. The volunteer will provide handouts, coloring books and piggy banks for each student. There is no charge for teachers or students to participate.
HOW DO I PARTIPCATE?
If you want a volunteer to visit your first-, second-, or third-grade classroom on April 21 or 22, complete the online registration form. The registration deadline is March 31.
Upon receipt of your registration, your classroom will be matched with a volunteer. You will receive notification about your volunteer and preparation for the visit by April 17.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Teachers are required to remain in the classroom during the visit. Maximum class size for a visit is 30 students. Depending on the lesson taught, teachers may need to provide an overhead projector and screen.
