The Credit Card Act: A Webinar for Financial Educators
Tuesday, March 9, 10:00 a.m. CST

The Credit CARD Act of 2009 has made sweeping changes to the way credit card companies can do business, including limitations on the promotion of credit cards to young consumers, elimination of universal default, and enhanced disclosures on credit card agreements and billing statements. Many provisions of the Credit CARD Act go into effect on February 22, 2010.  Financial educators and Jump$tart coalition members will likely be called upon to explain these changes in credit card laws and regulations in ways that are accessible to consumers.

To help to prepare financial educators and Jump$tart coalition members for this role, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is hosting a webinar on the Credit CARD Act on Tuesday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. CST.  Inger Giuffrida, Financial Educator and Asset Building Consultant, and Alinda Murphy, Community Affairs Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will provide information on the history leading up to the Act's passage, the Act's relationship to the final rule on Regulation Z, and major provisions of the act.  They will also cover other pending legislation and consumer resources that may be of interest to financial educators and Jump$tart Coalition members.

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. CST
