The Credit Card Act: A Webinar for Financial Educators The Credit CARD Act of 2009 has made sweeping changes to the way credit card companies can do business, including limitations on the promotion of credit cards to young consumers, elimination of universal default, and enhanced disclosures on credit card agreements and billing statements. Many provisions of the Credit CARD Act go into effect on February 22, 2010. Financial educators and Jump$tart coalition members will likely be called upon to explain these changes in credit card laws and regulations in ways that are accessible to consumers. For more information go to www.missourihomenetwork.org/summit.html Financial Education in the Workplace Signature Program: “Weighing the Effects of Financial Education in the Workplace” The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is hosting a lunch time program that will serve as the platform to highlight the recent completion of a multi-year research project conducted by Community Affairs Senior Economist Kelly Edmiston entitled, "Weighing the Effects of Financial Education in the Workplace."
The program will include a keynote address by research author Kelly Edmiston and a panel discussion with a participating employer and two participating financial education providers. The program will be video cast to other District offices and sites throughout the country. For program agenda click here. The program is targeted to human resource professionals, business owners and other stakeholders interested in the topic of financial education in the workplace. Saving the American Dream: Homeownership in a Challenging Market The 7th Annual Homebuyer Education Conference “Saving the American Dream” examines practical strategies for serving distressed homeowners and reducing foreclosures in Oklahoma. This conference addresses both of these areas through presentations by national leaders in the fields of homeownership education and protection, and breakout sessions on a wide range of topics relevant to your daily work.
Breakout sessions during the day address practical skills for both helping distressed homeowners restructure and engaging new homeowners in steps to head off crises and disaster. All sessions will be conducted by professionals working with these issues and will provide a very real picture of what can be accomplished in today's challenging market. Financial Education in Oklahoma The Financial Education in Oklahoma Conference brings together financial education service providers and stakeholders to learn about programs offered in the state, share experiences, and identify new strategies and resources to support your financial education efforts. Interagency CRA Officer Workshops Workshops are designed for CRA Officers at small or intermediate-small banks and thrifts interested in obtaining current information and training on CRA regulation, exam preparation and developing a bank CRA compliance strategy. 2009 Forum for Cities: Opportunities for Sustainability
