The Bank for the U.S. Government

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is a bank for the government. When people pay taxes, those payments eventually go into the government's account at a Federal Reserve Bank. Then various agencies can write checks on the government's account at the Fed or transfer money out of the account electronically. One example would be the checks and electronic funds transfers made by the Social Security Administration.
